Christine (Theiss) Bishop November 19, 1949 - April 30, 2024.
Christine Bishop, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend recently passed from us after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 19, 1949 in Palo Alto, California, Christine was the daughter of Roy and Frances Theiss. She was raised in Los Altos, California, graduating from Los Altos High School in 1967. She went to Oregon State University and never left the state of Oregon, making it her home. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Bishop; her children, Adam Spangler (Ashley) and Laurel Sullivan (James); and her four beloved grandchildren, Teagan, Aria, Brynlee and Avan. She is also survived by her three sisters, Kathlyn, Jacqueline and Mary. Christine dedicated 25 years of her life to serving the Oregon Educational Association, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of countless co-workers and educators. Her passion for education and her commitment to her work were inspiring to all who knew her. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Christine was a warm and generous person who loved spending time with her family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where she and Dick spent a few months each year soaking up the sun and enjoying the vibrant culture. A celebration of Christine's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society of the Oregon Educational Association.

My lifetime friend Chris Theiss who I met in Diane Fawson's Drama Class at LAHS died on April 30th, 2024. Christine worked at the Oregon Education Association and as I taught high school in Portland for 30 years we had both business and personal reasons to keep in touch. Chris had some rare form of cancer; she lived in Bend, Oregon and she and her husband spent winters in Puerta Vallarta for many years. We exchanged silly, sarcastic stuff on Facebook and email. (We were both quite good at sarcasm) I will miss our funny exchanges and the fact that she always laughed at my jokes. Rest in Peace Dear Friend Christine.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of my friend Christine Theiss Bishop. Chris and I went from kindergarten at Portola through San Antonio and Los Altos High together. We weren't close, just acquaintances then, but later in life we met again on Facebook and enjoyed a rich friendship there. I know that she'll be greatly missed by all who knew her.
